Poem 2003
You were walking
on the isle beach
in front of me.
Such peace and joy
indescribeable
vision of Thee.
O to be the
sand
that softly caresses the souls of Thy feet
sprinkling through your toes as you walk.
O to be the water
that races up the shore to wash Thy lotus feet
again and again - bubbling with rejoice.
O what fortune
the air
that surrounds and hugs Thee with soothing, cooling love
cooing and sighing from your touch
O to be the
flower fragrances
hanging in the air and washing Thy body and mind with their aromas
reeling in ecstacy as they smell Thee, the most fragrant source of all aromas.
O to be Nature
herself
revealing all her beauty and splendor just for Thee
like a shy, loving newlywed revealing their love for their mate.
O to be the
mango and coconut
tasted by Thy mouth - serving Thee ambrosial nectar
and themselves tasting Thine eternal source of nectar.
O to be the
sounds of nature
singing love songs to Thine ears
only to be entertained by the sounds of your silence moving along the beach
of Thy feet crunching the sand
as
they splash the water
as
Thy breath relaxes and fills all space and time and beyond.
Let me serve
Thee in this way my Lord
caressingly like the sand
unceasingly like the water lapping on the shore
fully and intimately like the air
sweetly like the flowers' fragrance
lovingly devoted like Nature herself
nourishing Thee like the mango and coconut
pleasingly like the sounds of Nature
Let me serve
Thee
my One.
my Only.
Bhakti Baba
O Lord,
What I thought were tears of sadness
were tears of rapture
What I thought
was fear
was your love being heaped upon me
What I thought was loneliness
was Divine intimacy
What I thought
was pain
Was your intense love growing in my heart
I don’t know
whether to act or remain still
whether to eat or be still
whether to sleep or be still
Truly I am hopelessly in love with Thee
I work because
of you
am inactive because of you
breathe because of you
Like one intoxicated I reel from your love
I want to dance
and sing praising Your name
Nowadays, only this feels right.
That delicate drop
that glistening silent dew drop
inside my core
It is You
It finds its way to my eyes
to my finger tips
to my lips
That silent, unmoving Divine breath
that keeps me alive
ennobles me,
reaches my mouth
my nose
passes through my pores
surpasses, surrounds and engulfs me
Your loving hug
What have I
done for this
How can I repay you
I can only praise you in song
There is nothing
and no one like You
nothing compares nothing but You
